Philosopher Klaas Rozemond wrote this book about the old question John Stuart Mill asked himself: Is it better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied? To try to answer the question Rozemond read what philosophers in history wrote about the differences between humans and other animals. The book ends with a Porcratic manifesto. Each of the 24 chapters is accompanied by a drawing by Jet Nijkamp and a poem by Co Woudsma. The book was first published in 2004 and was nominated for the Socrates Cup in 2005. Several reprints were made. In 2024 a new edition was released.
